Happy late Labor Day! A lot of big changes have occurred since I’ve last posted – I spent 10 days in London, moved out of the Big Apple and down to the sunny state of Florida, and moved in with my boyfriend, all within a month. As much as I love the fast-paced environment and the on-the-go lifestyle that the city offers, I soon realized I needed to be somewhere a bit calmer, low-key and WARMER. New York I love ya, but your winters are brutal. Living in NYC made me realize I hate noisy streets, walk up apartments, and cold winters. I need to be living somewhere where I can always wear a sundress with a beach nearby. Even though I was raised in New Jersey, I got spoiled with the four years I spent in beautiful Charleston.
This past weekend my two best friends came down to spend LDW with me in Amelia Island, which apparently has become an annual tradition since this is the third year we’ve celebrated it here. It’s fun each year, so we figure why not keep goin’. Personally, a holiday always inspires a style or trend, and for this specific one, my outfits were all simple & relaxed with a bit of a boho inspiration.
This outfit was perfect for a relaxed but busy weekend because it functioned as transitional from day into night. You have room to accessorize and alter it’s pieces. Kimonos are a great excuse for a cover-up, and you can modify what’s underneath according to the setting you’re in. I love being able to buy something knowing you’ll get good use out of it because of its versatility. The crochet top is Lisa Maree from Revolve Clothing, the printed kimono is Band of Gypsies also from Revolve Clothing, shorts are Flying Monkey and lastly the layered necklaces are from UO.
Lately I’ve really had a thing for anything off the shoulder, so a different night I wore a recent purchase that exemplifies just that – an adorable lace off the shoulder crop top from Tobi. This shirt goes great denim shorts or jeans. Obsessed.
As the weekend winded down I pulled out another recent fav, my Merritt Charles scalloped shorts. The beauty of these babies are that you can dress them up or down – wear them with heels and a fancy top or sandals and a tank or a sweater, perfect for fall! They have an elasticized waist and are so, so comfy.
{ Being able to take walks on the beach whenever I want = my dream come true }
aaand I colored my hair a bit darker – I’m naturally a brunette believe it or not [throwback below to see just how dark I was], and I’ve had enough of the extreme blonde look. It’s time to gradually go back to my roots (pun intended) over time.
Throwback to brunette hair: (on the right)
Summer might technically be over with fall around the corner, but that doesn’t mean I have to completely put my summer wardrobe aside just yet down in the sunshine state.
XO,
East Coast Gypsy
